True Green Capital Management LLC ("TGC") is a private equity renewable infrastructure fund manager focused on distributed solar power generation and associated opportunities. The firm is based in Westport, Connecticut with an office in London, England, and an investment focus in the United States and Europe. The firm was founded in July 2011 and is led by a team of professionals with extensive experience and a demonstrated capacity to originate, finance, construct, and operate distributed renewable power generation projects.
The ideal candidate will effectively coordinate due diligence processes while building strong relationships with stakeholders and managing projects to create value throughout the renewable energy investment lifecycle from acquisition to operation.
M&A/Due Diligence & Analysis:
- Execute thorough technical and financial evaluations of potential solar acquisitions across utility-scale and distributed generation segments, covering profitability projections, competitive landscape, and vulnerability analysis.
- Evaluate the strategic fit of potential projects into the fund pipeline and collaborate with the investment team to provide recommendations to senior management and the Investment Committee.
- Partner with operational teams in execution, ongoing management, and construction to verify project feasibility from both technical and business perspectives.
- Pinpoint and develop mitigation strategies for acquisition-related risks and obstacles.
- Determine when to engage third-party experts and collaborate with them to validate investment theses and derisk acquisition targets
Project Management:
- Oversee, and on occasion, spearhead the late-stage development for solar installations, with strict oversight of schedule compliance, cost management, and performance standards.
- Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration between technical, legal, financial, and operational divisions alongside external vendors to ensure smooth implementation and maintain regulatory and contractual compliance after closing.
- Maintain and monitor data management, communications, and project documentation (including project trackers, transaction checklists, virtual data rooms, etc.) to safeguard asset value throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Contribute both independently and collaboratively to develop and refine best practices for efficient transactions and asset oversight.
- Oversee developer counterparty compliance with transactional permitting, real estate, environmental, and network connection requirements as well as general contract obligations.
- Monitor financing arrangements during development, verifying the preservation and enhancement of asset-level loan collateral.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with internal + external partners including project developers, investors, local counsel, and regulatory bodies.
- Support transaction teams in contract negotiation and documentation for acquisitions, financing arrangements, and related agreements.
- Promote transparent communication channels with internal teams to ensure a unified understanding of project goals and critical deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, environmental studies, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
- In-depth understanding of all aspects of solar power development, including interconnection, permitting, construction, and financing.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
- Conceptual understanding of electricity supply and demand, policy/regulation, power markets, net metering, and financial metrics that drive successful renewable project development.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex challenges.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Experience effectively collaborating and negotiating with developer counterparties, and balancing financial objectives with technical considerations is a plus.
- Tax Equity/Project Finance transaction experience is a plus.
- Community Solar and/or PJM M&A or project development experience is a plus.
- Project development or asset management experience for standalone storage and/or solar coupled with storage is a plus
