Job Details

Project Accountant - Construction Industry
We're hiring for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support financial operations within an established construction company. This role is more than just billing-it involves deep financial analysis, contract-driven accounting, and close collaboration with project managers to ensure accurate reporting and cash flow management.

What You'll Do:
  • Own accounts receivable (AR) management, ensuring accurate and timely billing for multiple projects.
  • Work closely with project managers to track progress, manage lien waivers, and oversee percentage-of-completion billing.
  • Handle subcontractor payments, ensuring compliance with the "pay-when-paid" structure.
  • Process AIA billing, sales tax reporting, and contract-driven financial oversight for active jobs.
  • Assist in analyzing job costs-understanding whether projects are overbilled, underbilled, and financially on track.
  • Support ongoing financial reporting, variance analysis, and process improvements.

Who You Are:
  • A strong communicator-able to collaborate across teams and articulate financial details effectively.
  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and engaged in your work.
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals (debits/credits) and strong analytical skills.
  • Education: At least an AA in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Industry experience: Construction background strongly preferred, but open to sharp candidates with transferable skills.
  • Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista or similar accounting software and a willingness to learn industry-specific financial processes.
