The mission of VCU's
Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is to maximize philanthropic support by engaging stakeholders with all VCU schools, programs and campuses as one development and alumni relations community. We implement best practices and efficient strategies to achieve a comprehensive development program.
As a
Programmer, you will play a key role in supporting VCU's mission by applying your technical skills to support our fundraising initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data systems, reporting tools, and software development while contributing to the impactful work of DAR. This flexible, hourly position is expected to work between 20-30 hours per week within core business hours of 8:30am - 5pm EDT and closely collaborate with staff based in Richmond, Virginia.
This is a restricted position, limited to an approximate 6-9-month appointment.
In this role you will: - Use drag and drop interfaces in Blackbaud CRM and Tableau to generate reports
- Contribute to programming projects using C , SQL and .NET, connecting to databases and APIs
- Investigate and fix identified problems and bugs in software and systems
- Assist team as needed in QA and audit projects
- Make updates to websites using a Content Management System
- Use Excel, Google Workspace and other tools to contribute to projects
Required qualifications: - Completed or pursuing a Graduate or Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, information systems or a related field that prioritizes analytical thinking, problem solving, and logical reasoning or a demonstrated equivalent experience
- Experience in application programming (C , SQL, and .NET.) and API development
- Knowledge of programming best practices and how to integrate technology to co-developed strategies
- Knowledge of HTML and JavaScript is a plus
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Job Specific Requirement: Hybrid work available; must be available for predictable block scheduling during the hours of 8:30am - 5:00pm EDT.
