The person does not need to have expertise in Interpreter services. A lot of the work I need help with is administrative so I can focus on vendor management/invoicing etc Education:
• Bachelor's Degree, Business Administration- Preferred or
• Associates, Business Administration - Preferred or Related Field - Preferred Experience:
• 3 - 5 Years Interpreter Services - Required in Healthcare Setting or Equivalent Experience or related field
• Fluency in spoken and written English and one or more languages Certifications/Licensures: Job Summary: Responsible for the development, coordination and continuous improvement of the John Muir Health language access program that ensures effective communication for patients with Limited English proficiency and other communication barriers as well as their caregivers following promising practices and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include: development and maintenance of appropriate policies and procedures around language access to ensure compliance with existing laws and regulations research, negotiation and oversight of contract with all program vendors stewardship of program budget development and oversight of a comprehensive language access strategy that includes: a qualified employee interpreters (QEI) program a bi-lingual employee program phone interpreter services video interpreter services in-person interpreter services education and training for staff and leaders about the role and function of Interpreter Services research of interpreter service promising practices to continuously improve the service to patients with communication barriers and their caregivers Language access serves all inpatient and ambulatory areas, including off-site locations within the John Muir Health system network. Besides providing interpretation in-person, telephonically or via video, the program also provides consultation on culturally appropriate patient education materials and acts as a point of contract to resolve patient issues related to communication access. b.) Essential Job Functions: Program Oversight Serves as the Interpreter Services Program resource for staff throughout John Muir Health System. Develop education materials for patients, providers and staff, and facilitates training as appropriate. Coordinates and oversees interpretation services for LEP patients for all inpatient and ambulatory areas, including off-site locations within the John Muir Health system network. Research and develop new programs that enhance access for patients with language and communication needs. Act as point person to resolve all customer and patient related interpreter issues Design and develop a qualified employee interpreters (QEI) program including: recruit of new members create criteria to ensure competencies enforces policy compliance and standardizes requirements Oversees translation of all patient forms and printed material from English to Spanish Collects data and reports on interpreter use, QEI participation, documentation compliance in Epic EMR. Participates in interdisciplinary team rounds and conferences as needed
