What you'll do As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations. - Acts as internal subject matter expert regarding inflight menus, which may include the buy on-board program, beverage program and related policies and procedures for inflight catering
- Generate solutions to trending feedback and to drive revenue and profitability, as applicable
- Works in close collaboration with catering design chefs and suppliers to develop new menu concepts and recipes
- Initiates, plans and conducts menu presentations with caterers for menu redesigns, product changes, monthly cycle rotations, new station startups, etc
- Initiate and monitor change management process to ensure scheduling, Operations, Service Delivery and other stakeholders have necessary detail to execute changes or new service levels
- Investigates catering problems and issues and assists with development and implementation of solutions
- Analyzes flight attendant reports, sales data, customer feedback regarding products and services to highlight trends and opportunities for improvement
- Manages internal menu specifications, provisioning levels, inflight menu guides for flight attendant, printed menu materials and all customer facing materials
- Liaises with internal and external stakeholders such as Inflight Dining, Marketing Customer Product, Inflight Operations, Procurement and to coordinate introduction of new menu items and project manage the execution of new menus
- Monitors, analyzes and reports out competitive landscape to ensure inflight offerings remain competitive with other global airlines
- Interfaces with all levels of management within American Airlines and external supplier groups
- Develops and designs high-impact presentations for all levels of leadership to support strategic decision-making and business initiatives
All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience - Undergraduate degree, or equivalent menu design experience, or relevant training/experience
- 3+ years of project management work experience with ability to lead, organize and prioritize projects with internal and external teams
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically as needed
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience - Knowledge of market / industry trends related to food & beverage
- 3 years of prior experience in airline/hotel food and beverage, restaurants, catering, corporate purchasing, or airline inflight
- High level of initiative and proven experience managing a large workload and changing priorities with limited direction and ease
- CAE Inflight experience is a plus
Skills, Licenses & Certifications - Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
- Ability to adapt and understand software and systems
- Ability to have a high level of initiative and proven experience managing a large workload and changing priorities with limited direction and ease
- Ability to be highly creative and analytical, with demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to identify and drive creative product and marketing solutions while operating within a budget
- Ability to develop and present recommended communication plans and interact effectively with various levels of management
