About the role:
The Family Room is seeking a Program Director of Parent-Child Reunification to serve Washington & Multnomah county locations. Bilingual English/Spanish Speaking preferred but not mandatory. In this role, the Program Director is responsible for safely and effectively managing a diverse group setting of parents and children who are separated in the foster care system. This position must ensure visits are organized, educational, therapeutic and helpful in facilitating supervised visits while assessing parental capacity. The Program Director must collaborate with Oregon Child Welfare, community partners, and volunteers while demonstrating a commitment to our mission of strengthening families and promoting child welfare. This role requires an individual who can manage a high energy environment, de-escalate conflict, maintain consistent boundaries while displaying a strong ability to problem solve and multitask.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with birth parents, resource (foster) parents, and child welfare caseworkers to establish a weekly schedule for family time (visits)
- Coordinate transportation for each child
- Build trauma-informed relationships with each parent and child
- Manage a group setting of numerous parents, children and volunteers
- Provide professional education, guidance, and feedback to parents as needed
- Provide weekly professional visitation summaries to ODHS caseworkers
- Write Quarterly Parental Assessments for each family to distribute to legal parties
- Oversee volunteers and all scheduling updates and changes
- Oversee meal preparation and execution during visits
- Attend family court hearings and ODHS meetings as schedule permits
- Advocate for individual families and provide outside support for families on a case-by-case basis
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a social services related field
- Two-years experience in direct client services with a relevant client population
- Clinical parental capacity assessment skills
- Professional writing and reporting skills
- De-escalation and conflict resolution skills
- Group management experience
- Driver's License
- Proficiency in Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluent English & Spanish speaking
