Responsibilities
The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions , Office of the University Registrar , Office of Financial Aid , and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.
Position is responsible for assisting in the management, administrative direction, and coordination of staff and activities for the application review process for first-year admission, special programs, as well as the National Merit and High Achievers Scholarship Programs in the Office of Admissions.
Responsible for planning, administering, reviewing, and evaluating activities of first-year admissions, special programs, and scholarship programs within the Office of Admissions. Manages and oversees the financial commitments of the National Merit and High Achievers scholarship program. Develops and implements strategies to grow and improve special programs while ensuring quality and increasing enrollment. Oversee the management and coordination of multiple college application systems to include one internal application portal (Slate Application) and one external application portal (Common Application).
Designs, develops, and implements program goals that align and complement the overall vision and mission of the Office of Admissions. Oversee the administration and recruitment of scholarship programs to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Oversees the recruitment of this population and assists in the collection of statistical data for this population. Promotes scholarship programs and creates awareness with University and external partners.
Counsels applicants, parents, university officials, and other interested parties regarding the actions necessary to gain admission to the university. Interprets BOE and university policies and procedures as they pertain to these inquiries. Extensive contact with applicants for admission and their parents or representatives, the general public, university officials, various agencies (domestic & foreign), and outside vendors.
Contributes to long-range planning. Reviews and evaluates policies and procedures, making suggestions, and recommendations to senior leadership regarding application review, special programs, and scholarships programs. Shares in the compilation and analysis of data for recommendations and projections. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and staffing of the Office of Admissions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six years of experience related to academic and/or student services or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and complimentary experience is preferred.
- We seek enthusiastic candidates who are detail-oriented and who work well independently as well as in a team.
- Experience reviewing transcripts and interpreting and applying admissions tests is preferred.
- Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments.
- Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Candidates with a strong sense of initiative and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently are preferred.
- The ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment is essential.
- Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Candidates must have previous experience working with various college student populations.
- Qualified candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience creating and delivering presentations to small and large groups.
- Applicants must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.
