Environmental Law Center (ELC)

Reports to: Staff Director, ELC / Director, Graduate Academic Programs

Full-time, Non-exempt

On-campus

$23-27/hour

Position Overview:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the leaders and faculty of Environmental Law Center (ELC) and adjacent Environmental and Animal Law programs.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support ELC Leadership - Manage calendars and schedule appointments for ELC leaders. Arrange travel and manage travel reimbursements and expenses as needed. Copyedit, proof, and document edit as needed for ELC leaders. Provide course and teaching support as needed.
  • Support Environmental Programs - Support the ELC's programs through participation in committee work, events, and team activities. Schedule environmental faculty meetings and take/prepare minutes. Support planning of yearly conferences. Plan and schedule events for the Environmental Mission Scholars program and environmental student groups. Manage ELC front desk and office needs.
  • Support Environmental Faculty - Support assigned Environmental Faculty with administrative tasks, proctor student exams and Canvas administration.
  • Administratively Coordinate Master's Externship Program - Work closely with Master's Externship Program Director and Directors of Career Services. Maintain the Master's Externship datasheets and files. Review, sign and forward to the Registrar the executed externship contract form. Send evaluation reminders to the externship mentor and faculty supervisor. Send evaluation reminders to students for their self-evaluations. Review and suggest changes to the Master's Externship webpage.
  • Other similar duties to be assigned as needed in support of ELC/VLGS.
Requirements:

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, plus two or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and related work experience.
  • Understanding of and appreciation for inclusion, including the ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, identities, and viewpoints.
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, manage time effectively, establish priorities, and communicate expectations to stakeholders.
  • Experience in an academic setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in or knowledge of environmental issues preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in business partner relationships.
  • Proficiency with MSOffice platforms, specifically with Word, Excel and Outlook Calendar/MS Teams.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to higher education learning management system platforms including TWEN, Examsoft, Canvas, and others.
  • Must be able to adapt to new and emerging technology as established and communicated by the school.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines and reorganize under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must be able to work legally within the United States without sponsorship.
