The Position The Arts Coordinator is responsible for providing a variety of support services in the day-to-day operations, activities, events, and programs of the Arts Division. The Arts Coordinator's duties include but are not limited to customer service, opening/closing events, answering phones, daily shipping, billing, data entry, checking-in and tagging inventory, coordinating with artists, performers and vendors, hanging artwork, gallery errands and all aspects of inventory and supply management.
This is a part time temporary contract position and incumbents are limited to working a maximum of 1499 hours per year.
Examples of Important & Essential Duties (included but not limited to)- Provides marketing support to include graphic design, production, and distribution;
- Maintains Arts webpages, online calendars and social media;
- Provides writing and editing support for Arts programs text;
- Assists in coordination of the Visual Art Program to include application process, exhibition curation, installation and de-installation, scheduling, artist communication and receptions;
- Assists in the coordination of Art Night Encinitas;
- Concert administration to include ticketing, box office and receptions;
- Facilitates permits for special events;
- Assists with the Public Art Program to include inventory and maintenance;
- Collaborates with organizations, agencies and community groups;
- Assists with record keeping of programs and events;
- Provides customer service via, phone, email and written correspondence;
- Researches special projects;
- Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have proficient knowledge and experience with graphic design principles and production methods for a variety of print and digital marketing assets as well as promotional campaign abilities; knowledge ofthe visual and performing arts and arts practices; arts event management; organizing visual art exhibitions; customer service principles; filing and recordkeeping principles; excellent skills in English language, writing, editing, grammar, and punctuation; instructional techniques; basic mathematical and reading concepts; record keeping; software programs related to area of assignment; laws and regulations in driving a vehicle.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite graphic design software (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and also have skills in providing customer service; coordinating arts events; ticketing software ( ActiveNet); financial record keeping; working with money; written and verbal communication; using computers and related software applications; performing routine mathematical calculations; performing multiple tasks simultaneously; driving a vehicle; time management skills; ability to work independently; researching and problem solving; communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Minimum QualificationsAssociates Degree in an Arts-related field or a minimum of three years of experience in graphic design with a connection to visual and/or performing arts administration.
