at The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland seeks to hire a Program Coordinator to provide professional administrative support to the events and partnerships team. This position will operate primarily as the administrative and operational support for seeks a bright, passionate, scrappy, and highly organized individual who thrives in managing behind-the-scenes logistics, correspondence, and outreach to join our growing team. This role, reporting to the Assistant Program Director, will support day-to-day operations and the execution of events and experiences to connect students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to solve grand challenges through teamwork and entrepreneurship. The duties of this position include: General office management and operations; managing meeting and event schedules; supporting in correspondence with partners; making travel arrangements for staff and visitors; assisting with event logistics for meetings, weekly seminars, public events, and conferences with local and international collaborators and donors; management of internal department correspondence; note-taking and follow-up; project management support; handling highly confidential and/or sensitive documents and other administrative tasks

Physical Demands: A valid driver's license
Ability to lift and move boxes/items weighing up to 35 lbs, and utilize dollies and carts for heavier items
Preferences: Minimum four (4) years of experience in an upper-level Assistant or event coordinator position is highly preferred
Background in communications, business, marketing, program management, or event management
Experience corresponding with c-suites, executive offices, or other high-level stakeholders
Demonstrated sense of initiative, creative spirit, and passion

Additional Information: This position is for 40 hours/week. It is an exempt, hourly contractual position that includes a State of Maryland health benefit subsidy.
This is a hybrid role, reporting in person to UMD College Park at least 4 days per week.
Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.
Additional Skills: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1 Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with little supervision in a fast paced, high output startup environment.
2 Strong written and verbal skills including copywriting, editing, and use of proper etiquette for formal communication.
3 Previous experience planning, managing, and leading small to midsize in-person events with complex logistics
4 Excellent customer service and people skills including in-person, virtual, and phone correspondence
5 Experience in oversight of projects, deadlines and team members using task management software
6 Excellence in taking initiative, independent judgment, and creativity
7 Highly organized and task-oriented with strong attention to detail
8 Ability to quickly learn new software applications and interested in utilizing new software services
9 Experience with Microsoft Office, Google and Adobe Suite.
10 Basic digital office management including, but not limited to, budgeting, expenses, and inventory
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of professional secretarial, clerical, coordinator, or administrative experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record-keeping.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.

Salary Range $30-$35/hr
