Overview

The Program Administrator oversees the quality of care provided to the Alternative Housing Program residents. The Program Administrator is also responsible for the organization, coordination and supervision of all Mental Health Workers and Treatment Coordinator.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the services provided meet the standards of care applicable to Supportive Housing under the Office of Mental Health and the Joint Commission. This includes all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all Mental Health Workers coordinate all medical, mental health, and support services for each resident ensuring respectful care is provided.
  • In-service and follow-up with all mental health workers to ensure that they are providing comprehensive service planning.
  • In conjunction with the Psychiatry Administrator, interview prospective employees, evaluate and supervise the performance of the staff members and discipline as necessary.
  • Organize and conduct the QA /QI program for the unit.
  • Provides In-service on an on-going basis and orientation to all new program staff.
  • Involvement in program planning and program development.
  • Identifies deficiencies in the program and devise corrective measures.
  • Conducts routine Environmental Rounds to ensure that the environment is therapeutic, safe and code compliant.
  • Conducts chart reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Interact affectively with apartment landlords and superintendents.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychologist, or related field, required.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention training preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of Three (3) years job related experience.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with chronic mental health conditions and substance use history.
  • Prior experience working collaboratively with one or more individuals to help accomplish a goal or behavior change.
  • Prior experience and or training in motivational interviewing, trauma informed care and working with individuals with chronic mental health conditions.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Organizational skills: ability to manage your schedule and be accountable for staff and resident needs.
  • Ability to manage a balance of direct care and documentation responsibilities.
  • Strong Interpersonal/relationship building skills.
  • A commitment to decreased health disparity, and social stigma for individuals with mental illness.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience with EPIC, the hospital's electronic documentation system.
Licenses, Certifications:
  • No License/Certification requirement.
Physical Requirements:
  • Travel to various apartments in Brooklyn, NY, USA.
  • Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending.
  • May include some repetitive motions.
