. About the Position
Our San Francisco office is seeking a mid-level associate to evaluate coverage for claims submitted under policies covering professional liability and/or cyber/privacy risks. The issues are interesting, cutting edge and complex. We are looking for an attorney who is detail-oriented and enjoys analyzing the facts of each claim, the contracts at issue, and the law.
Though litigation experience is helpful, this is not primarily a litigation position. Rather, the role focuses on counseling insurers regarding their rights and responsibilities with respect to their insureds. Experience with insurance coverage and/or professional liability and/or data privacy is a plus but is not required; if you bring strong legal experience and a great attitude, we will teach you the rest. The billable hour requirement is 1850 hours per year.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze complex insurance contracts and policy forms
- Apply policy contract terms to a variety of claim scenarios
- Remain current on legislative trends and court decisions and provide timely updates, detailed insights, and recommendations
- Produce comprehensive written opinions, including strategic recommendations, to business leaders where appropriate
- Work with claims management to provide expert legal advice on risk exposure, policy interpretation, litigation strategy, and claims-handling protocols
- Deliver high quality work product within defined service level agreements with clients
Qualifications- JD from an accredited law school
- CA state licensed attorney in good standing
- 3+ years of law firm experience
- Cheerful outlook and team player
- Eye for detail, a creative mind, and excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Flexibility and tenacity in solving complex problem scenarios with an ability to anticipate challenges and recommend solutions
Work Location and Business Hours While Atheria supports flexible working arrangements, including remote work when appropriate, we believe that to optimize the understanding of our practice, working as a team, and best servicing our clients, in-person interaction is important. At this time, unless otherwise agreed upon, this position requires in-office attendance every Tuesday and Thursday, or as otherwise needed.
Salary and Benefits We offer competitive salaries and bonuses in addition to excellent benefits and opportunities for growth and leadership.
The annual salary for a mid-level associate ranges from $150,000 to $180,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including experience level, education/training, and relevant skills. Associates also participate in a performance and hours-based bonus program.
