About the Opportunity:
• Job Title: Production Technician
• Pay Rate Range: $22-24/Hour
• Location: Chaska, MN
• Schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Fri 8AM-4:30PM
• Position Type: Temp to Hire
Production Technician Requirements and Qualifications:
- 2-year degree preferred
- Must have Electro-mechanical experience
- Must be able to work independently and work in areas of the job including mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, product calibration, inventory, shipping, quality control, epoxy, etc.
- Soldering experience.
- Lifting 35lbs
Production Technician Duties and Responsibilities:
- Position Summary
- Perform mechanical and electronic assembly of all company products, glue and pot all products as required, calibrate and test subassemblies as required, package and ship products as required, track inventory as it relates to work assigned. Work as directed by shop lead production technician and supervised by management as required by activity.
- Operating responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly
- Assemble circuit boards and components into enclosures and housings. Placement and orientation as shown in procedures or as directed.
- Drill and tap housings as required
- Drill tap holes without drilling through enclosures
- Tap deep enough to allow fully tightened ground screw
- Thoroughly clean all housings of oil
- Manage inventory of drill and tap supplies
- Assemble brackets, sensors, discs, wraps and other products as required or directed.
- Electronic assembly
- Assemble electronic circuit boards and subassemblies per procedure or as directed. Assemble boards as efficiently as possible. Assemble components to boards with all parts flush to the board, oriented correctly, neat bends on leaded components as required. Clean solder joints, heated correctly with good flow through.
- Product calibration
- Under the direction of the lead technician or management, using established procedures, perform calibration/test work on subassemblies and final products.
- Record calibration data on job documentation as required.
- Perform tests and document the condition of returned goods.
- Inventory
- Accurately record inventory used
- Accurately assist in the monthly physical inventory as directed
- Quality Control
- Quality control is a key component of all job activities. Responsibility for quality control is higher in three areas:
- Epoxy - work performed gluing or potting component parts of all assemblies that require it presents only one chance to do the job correctly. Any QC rejection after the glue is dry, or mistaken parts assembled, poorly mixed or applied product result in discarded parts. Final inspection for epoxy work happens coincidently with the process of gluing. The highest level of quality should be the goal both in appearance and function.
- Packing for shipment - The next person that sees packed product is the customer. It must be packed securely, neatly, and be marked as required. The package must include all required parts. The packaging job is the final inspection before shipment.
- Calibration and test - Calibration and test work is the final test of product functionality. It must be done correctly as listed in procedures or as directed to ensure our products perform to the listed specifications.
- Shipping/ packaging
- Pull parts as required for orders
- Test any assemblies that require testing
- Select box sizes as appropriate for the product shipping
- Follow guidelines and directions for international shipment minimum box sizes
- Provide accurate information back to the office regarding weight and size
- Complete shipping in a timely manner as directed
- Monitor and advise lead tech regarding box, tape, and peanut inventory
- Securely pack all product for shipment to prevent damage but do not overpack.
- Epoxy
- Responsible for epoxy inventory including rotating stock by date, providing any special care for epoxy such as rotating containers to prevent settling.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of discs to support sales or as directed
- Neatly glue all products avoiding drips, smears, and other appearance defects
- Keep a neat, organized glue area as directed
- Judge, daily, the quality and efficacy of the epoxy products in use and bring any concerns to management
