Location: Omaha, Nebraska Salary: $60-70K plus bonus Job Summary of the Production Supervisor: The Production Supervisor will perform department related production scheduling, inventory management, new/existing personnel training, interview, hire, work with all departments to resolve product and quality problems, work with engineering to coordinate change orders, perform depart quality activities, ensure safety compliance and will work directly with sales and vendors on quality issues. The Production Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the activities of manufacturing workers to safely and efficiently build and ship quality products to satisfy all customers. Perform responsibilities and duties as assigned by the General/Plant Manager. The Area Supervisor will strive to continuously improve business systems. Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor: o Provides leadership, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out team goals based upon business objectives. o Takes responsibility for subordinates work activities. o Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. o Has/develops a strong understanding of SAP and other capacity planning tools and theories. o Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties (is a working supervisor when necessary). o Creates an environment of continuous improvement of processes, controls, production, and labor that satisfy the customer. o Works with MRP Controllers to create schedule timelines and departmental workloads to ensure sales order shipment dates are met. o Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space for each customer order. o Plans flow of materials through the plant, including the development of the physical layout of the plant, to assure that work is completed efficiently, profitably, and per schedule. o Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. o Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of the product. o Coordinates labor demand requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and scheduling overtime staffing to meet changing schedule requirements and sales order demands. o Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. o Responsible for checking the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing office process input to ensure customer's final product is correct and within quality acceptance guidelines. o Ensures any changes or corrections to the product or product designs are communicated to appropriate departments and per established procedures so future product output is consistent with customer expectations. o Initiates, implements, and sustains 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and other organizational, continuous improvement, and efficiency programs within the plant. o Initiates and drives cross-training throughout his/her area of responsibility to support and enhance workforce versatility, create an agile work center and meet company goals. o Responsible for Monthly Department Safety Inspections. o Completes and submits all accident and near miss reporting in their areas of supervision. o Maintains and sustains 5S within the department. o Upholds and supports the Quality and EHS policy. o Practices, maintains, and adheres to ISO Quality System standards. o Issues performance evaluations in a timely manner and disciplinary action for performance when applicable. o May manage/supervise 0-20 employees. o Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned areas. o Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. o Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education & Experience of the Production Supervisor: Experience in a manufacturing environment Worked in an ISO certified quality environment 2+ years of Supervision experience is required. Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Safety compliance and knowledge of OSHA 10 or 30 a plus Must have experience creating written procedures, instructions Can actively resolve customer product issues Production and inventory scheduling experience SAP a plus Working knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) required
