Litehouse Foods is looking to hire a motivated full-time 2nd Shift Production Supervisor in Danville, VA. The Supervisor, Production partners with management to establish production and quality control standards, assists in developing budgets and cost controls and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of product. This position also plans and directs production activities in the Portion Control and Packaging departments. What you will do Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment. Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems. Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality. Interview, hire, and train employees, including shift coordinators and non-supervisory employees. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Analyze and resolve personnel and disciplinary issues with employees and maintain written documentation regarding all personnel and disciplinary issues. Conduct performance evaluations for all employees a minimum of once annually. Perform activities of workers supervised. Interpret company policies to workers and manage safety programs including adherence to food safety guidelines. Revise production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems. Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products. Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and food safety guidelines and direct setup and adjustments of machines. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Maintain time and production records. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Qualifications Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Fully trained and experienced in the operation of multiple production lines and machines. Previous experience in related supervisory or leadership role. Previous experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and SOP manuals. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge and experience in the operations and mechanics of the designated production line machine. Compute basic mathematical calculations, rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to write routine reports, read & comprehend instructions, and write correspondence. Capable of speaking effectively and presenting information in one-on-one and group situations to employees or customers. Ability to multi-task, working in fast-paced environment. Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company.
