Summary This position is located at US Mint,Manufacturing Directorate - Denver - Plant Engineering Division. Incumbent is responsible for performing work leader duties in conjunction with Production Machinery Mechanic (PMM) duties in the Electrical Mechanical Section. Videos Duties As a Production Machinery Mechanic Leader, you will: The position performs a wide variety of duties concerned with the disassembly, repair, installation, and modification of parts for high speed and conventional coining presses, upset mills, annealing furnaces, metal shears, pumps, air compressors, automated and conventional material handling equipment, shakers, elevators, torque limiters and other production and support equipment associated with the coin manufacturing industry. Repair, adjust, troubleshoot and make precise adjustments for alignment, parallelism and concentricity as they affect the malfunction of high-speed production equipment, conventional and no conventional (e.g., CNC, NC, EDM) machine shop tools. Ensure all safety and housekeeping rules/directives are followed. Maintain current knowledge level and answer questions of other workers on procedures, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders). Develop additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees and providing on-the-job training for workers. Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one-year probationary period may be required Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. Objects are handled on a regular basis which weigh in excess of 100 pounds; however, hoists, hand trucks, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with the heavier lifting. Must be able to lift 40-pound loads, work in cramped quarters and have ability (eyesight) to do close work. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms.
