Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced operations leader to oversee and enhance engineering, production, and quality functions within a high-end custom fabrication environment. This role requires a strong strategic thinker who can step in, assess challenges, and implement solutions to drive efficiency, quality, and profitability.
Operating within a design-led, fast-paced environment, this company specializes in custom, high-quality millwork and fixture solutions. With a collaborative approach that blends engineering, craftsmanship, and production, they deliver innovative, tailor-made solutions for high-profile clients. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can balance strategic oversight with direct engagement in daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage production, engineering, and quality teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline operations, optimize workflows, and enhance production efficiency.
- Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and production schedules to ensure successful execution.
- Drive process improvements and establish best practices for engineering and manufacturing operations.
- Lead a team of production supervisors, engineering professionals, and quality specialists, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with sales, project management, and design teams to ensure operational feasibility of custom projects.
- Ensure consistent quality control, problem-solving production challenges proactively.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement.
- Establish a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and high-performance within production and engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
- MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE READING BLUEPRINTS
- This role is 25% in the shop and 75% in the office working cross functionally with engineering, project management, etc
- We would like someone who has strengths in technology, who can look at an impact and trace it upstream to make improvements, someone who's innovative
- Experience leading operations in a custom manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
- Hands-on problem solver who enjoys being in the thick of production while also shaping long-term operational improvements.
- Experience overseeing engineering functions, with an understanding of drafting, production planning, and workflow management.
- Ability to navigate competing priorities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure projects stay on track.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives and streamlining manufacturing processes.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-mix, low-volume production setting where every project is unique.
- Strong communication and people management skills-able to build trust and credibility across teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $120K - $145K (plus profit sharing)
