The Production Engineer works with 24/7 and Core teams to ensure the unit is running to meet production targets and anticipates potential emerging issues.
Responsibilities:
Stewardship
- Continuously monitors process, product and equipment to detect and anticipate emerging issues
- Conducts field walkthroughs for hazard recognition, housekeeping, PSSR, etc.
- Defines, updates and tracks alarm performance and implements change where needed
- Responsible for environmental compliance (monitor and escalate)
- Initiates process safety bypasses and develops mitigation plans
- MOC system owner and core team leader
Quality
- Engages with unit team and 24/7 Team to identify quality issues with any raw materials and chemicals that need to be addressed with the suppliers
- Participates in quality investigations for out-of-spec product or quality drifts
- Develops strategy and communicates executable plan for handling out of spec/rejected materials
- Monitors product quality parameters and takes action as needed to keep product in spec
- Completes Raw Material Acceptance Training
Production/Reliability
- Tracks Core performance, losses, RM efficiency and energy usage
- Engages with 24/7 Team to identify and remove daily execution barriers
- Establishes and communicates operating parameters for the 24/7 Team
- Ensures supplies and raw materials are ordered and delivered as needed to meet unit objectives
- Ensures proper application of RCA process and documents corrective action plans
- Plans, establishes, and communicates priority for equipment repairs
- Engages with supply chain to ensure that they are aware of any production schedule challenges
- Communicates issues or barriers with production schedule or material containment
Engagement
- Communicates with outside units to share best practices
- Participates in area networking calls for production and safety best practices
- Supports 24/7 team as SME by developing tools for operations team to improve performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering work experience preferred.
- Understands technology of process, product and equipment capacity.
- Understands production schedule, production capabilities, and reliability requirements.
- Understands raw material and chemical usages and efficiencies of the unit.
- Identifies emerging supply issues.
- Interfaces with supply chain.
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets, work experience, and qualifications. The expected salary range for this Minnesota position is between $84,200 and $111,500.
