Summary:

The second stage of production; reviewing and transforming approved designs into DXF and toolpaths to run CNC routers, laser, engraver and letter bender. Includes As-Built artwork assembly, file management and some material procurement. Brings knowledge, perspective, talent, and self-motivation to the CSD fabrication department. Processes and executes to ensure that our goals and objectives are accomplished with minimum liability exposure and maximum efficiency. Works closely with the Production Manager and team in a respectful and motivating fashion, all the while implementing all of CSD's procedures, standards, and protocols. Manages his time effectively and follows the guidelines and objectives within the company culture and employee handbook.

Responsibilities:

  • In addition to the essential functions listed below, other duties may be assigned.
  • First and foremost works with safety in mind at all times. Always aware of existing hazards and uses the appropriate methods of decreasing or eliminating the safety hazards via various forms off PPE, direct and indirect engineered safe guards.
  • Study approved designs, work orders, surveys, contracts and estimates as part of prejob focus to ensure our first step, is in the right direction.
  • Assist in design preparation and engineering of standard jobs. Ex: Cut out letters, pre fabricated ADA signs, LED layouts and channel letter bender files, DXFs and more.
  • Analyze and revise projects with Project Managers or Sales as needed. Update and print drawings with Production Managers input. Work with Production Manager to determine materials and fabrication procedures. Enrich prints with production details and correct errors prior to production (as-built drawings).
  • Assist with estimates and take offs for materials as needed. Verify materials are ready for jobs in cue. Update files for production and as built. QC, training, oversight and manufacturing, final assembly assistance of some jobs when required.
  • Prepare tool paths files on Enroute, Flexi sign and Gravograph for the Laser, Router and Engraver machine. Also translate Braille in Gravograph. Verify CAS files for output devices are accurate and complete before machining takes place.
  • Assists in operating all production equipment as needed. Processes tasks using TEAMWORK, to ensure the team is aware of project status and time usage.
  • Able to quickly and accurately evaluate problems and assist in making decisions and corrections to game plans, schedules and other details impacted by unforeseen obstacles and issues in a timely manner and with a positive attitude. Able to accurately adopt and reflect the culture of our business through all forms of communication.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) from two-year college or university in Graphic Design; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, Flexi Sign and other sign making programs helpful, as well as Microsoft Office programs.

  • Ability to effectively assist the production department and staff to exceed the standards and objectives of the particular project by beating the allotted time, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
