About the Role
The Production Coordinator is a vital member of the operations team, responsible for managing and supporting daily production functions to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of Vanderloc's custom luxury vanities. This role involves coordinating production activities across multiple departments, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring quality standards are upheld. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with potential to grow into a leadership role focused on process improvement and operational management as the company scales.
Primary Responsibilities
- Creating production lists (selecting the vanities for each week's production), validating production info, printing work orders, and organizing production packets.
- Communicating with the sales and customer service teams to resolve any product quality or production-related issues.
- Resource allocation and planning (managing manpower, time, and material).
- Maintaining weekly production capacity (currently 15 units per week with a goal of scaling to 60 per week within 12 months).
- Communicating schedule changes and updates to production personnel.
- Coordinating with the purchasing department on inventory levels and maintaining adequate material stock.
- Requesting freight carrier pickups when outside of the regularly scheduled times.
- Reporting and communicating engineering issues or potential program enhancements.
- Collaborating with management (e.g., Andrew) on resource planning when staffing gaps occur.
- Managing stock of shipping and crating documentation.
- Coordinating the scheduling of subcontractors and external production resources.
Initial Focus (First 6 Months)
- Assisting the shipping department to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
- Inspecting incoming third-party products at the point of delivery by vendors.
- Implementing small improvements within the production process (15-minute to 1-hour tasks).
Future Responsibilities (6 Months and Beyond - Leadership Track)
- Continuing core responsibilities, with the addition of administrative reporting.
- Shifting focus to leadership and oversight, with limited direct floor duties.
- Creating and maintaining streamlined production processes and workflows.
- Interviewing and assisting in the hiring of production associates, staff, and administrative personnel.
- Maintaining a clean, organized office and factory environment; coordinating facility maintenance.
- Engaging with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and project alignment.
- Recording production issues, identifying root causes, and documenting solutions for continuous improvement.
- Reporting and communicating engineering issues or potential program enhancements.
