Hour Media is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our team in Troy, MI. This full-time position plays a key role in the execution of advertising campaigns across both print and digital platforms for our award-winning media brands, including Hour Detroit, DBusiness, Detroit Design, and more.
About the Role
The Production Assistant is responsible for managing the flow of advertising materials between clients, sales reps, designers, and developers. This position ensures that all advertising assets are collected, processed, tracked in our CRM system, and approved in a timely manner-delivering high-quality results across multiple publications and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Duties
- Serve as the main point of contact for gathering advertising materials from clients.
- Open production tickets in Active Collab for creative teams once assets are received.
- Monitor and manage project timelines and ad material status using Magazine Manager.
- Provide consistent updates to Media Advisors and clients on asset status and approvals.
- Ensure all materials meet technical specs and deadlines.
Digital Responsibilities
- Coordinate all advertising for Hour Media digital platforms, including:
- Hour Detroit Daily, DBusiness, and Michigan Wine Country newsletters
- Manage and track advertiser content for sponsored articles, digital edition sponsorships, eBlasts, directory listings, and digital special sections.
- Oversee digital ad collection processes and improve workflows to streamline delivery and reminders.
Print Responsibilities
- Handle ad coordination for a wide range of publications, including Hour Detroit, DBusiness, Detroit Design, Michigan Blue, Grand Rapids Magazine, and others.
- Review all ads and publications for accuracy prior to final approval.
- Coordinate with trade advertisers to collect and approve ad materials.
- Update and manage print production schedules in CRM.

- Accurate data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and follow-up abilities
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment
- Client-focused mindset with a strong sense of urgency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience working in a CRM platform and with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
