CTG is seeking to fill a Product Owner II opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Location: Remote

Duration: 12 months

Overview:

Serves as owner of a large product or set of products by representing the voice of the customer and stakeholders to ensure that the product provides value to the customer, while aligning with the business strategy. The Product Owner II defines their product vision and roadmap, prioritizes the product backlog, anticipates client needs, and serves as the primary communicator between product stakeholders and teams while evaluating product progress at each iteration. In addition, the Product Owner II plays a key role in the company's strategic direction, defining and articulating new opportunities, and working in close concert with key stakeholders, including senior leadership and their dedicated agile team.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build and own the large product or set of products vision and roadmap that aligns with the overall strategic intent; communicate them with the team and stakeholders
  • Prioritize the backlog(s) based on the overall product vision and strategy
  • Represent the voice of the customer and convey story details to the team; make autonomous decisions to move delivery forward in alignment with the product vision
  • Write user stories and groom the backlog in partnership with the team; specify acceptance criteria to support ATDD
  • Work with the delivery team to create communication tools to show progress on product development
  • Participate in team activities and agile ceremonies
  • Influence and collaborate with business partners across the organization to advocate for customer benefits
  • Focus on outcomes over outputs using design thinking and analytics to inform product design
  • Collaborate with other Product Owners to align the customer journey and dependent backlogs
  • May act on behalf of the Senior Product Owner in their absence
  • Understand and adhere to company risk and regulatory standards
  • Promote an inclusive environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Maintain internal control standards, including audit and regulatory issue remediation
  • Complete other related duties as assigned
Scope of Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading a large-scale product or set of products, often with greater complexity and higher visibility. Works in a cross-functional agile environment and influences business partners across departments and seniority levels.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

No direct management responsibility, but must manage activities through influence, accountability, and ownership within an agile framework.

Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years of business, analytical, technical, and/or product experience
  • OR, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 10 years of higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • At least 6 years of Product Ownership in an Agile environment
  • RESTful APIs
  • JIRA and Confluence
Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Experience prioritizing across competing demands in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to seek out diverse opinions, make independent decisions, and influence outcomes
  • Understanding of Design Thinking principles
  • Knowledge of product design and development best practices
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean principles
  • Experience collaborating with UX teams
  • Experience developing or managing digital capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant subject matter expertise for the assigned product

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $150,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
