PRIMARY PURPOSE: As the Product Manager for Accessories and Hardware at EFJohnson, you will be in charge of the life-cycle management of products for users in the Land Mobile Radio and Mission Critical Public Safety communication sectors.
We're looking for a highly motivated person for the EF Johnson product management team. In this role, the Product Manager will provide technical and operational guidance to multiple departments within and outside the organization. This position will fill a wide array of activities on a day-to-day basis. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in product management with experience working with complex technical product families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Maintains the assigned accessory portfolio for the entire lifecycle of the accessories and associated products. This includes scoping new needs, identifying gaps, pricing, competitive analysis, issue escalation, replacement and end-of-life management that supports the primary hardware ecosystem.
- Creates product requirement documents that include user requirements, hardware performance, features, agency approvals, cost targets, expected customer use and philosophy of configuration, manufacturing/sourcing, and service. Initiate and maintain relationships with third-party vendors who provide product to EFJohnson for resale.
- Identifies internal support needs from field sales, marketing, engineering, and other sources and defines fit between business unit competencies and market/customer needs.
- Responsible for the accessories portfolio content and documentation. Coordinates/contributes in marketing collateral generation. Seeks feedback from sales, customers, and internal operations to initiate product refinements in order to maximize commercial success. Create content and product documentation, both traditional and online (web, mobile, email, etc.).
- Provides product data, historical data, planning data and forecasting guidance to Order Management, Purchasers/Buyers, and Fulfillment Planning teams to meet budget and revenue goals.
- Oversees accessory and hardware specifications and ensures that associated controlled documentation is available.
- Manages the product catalog and performs product setup in configuration management tools for easy ordering.
- Review and update product costs and pricing on a periodic or as-needed basis given guidance on margin goals from management.
- Provides proposal and bid assistance and direction related to requirements satisfaction, product availability, pricing review, and identification of commitment liabilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Technical undergraduate degree in one of the following: Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Audio Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Business Administration with strong Technical focus
- Experience managing or developing hardware and electronic accessories as a part of complex systems
- Excellent communicator
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Knowledge of land mobile two-way radios & systems highly desired
- Experience with audio devices
- Experience with wireless systems technology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience using product/project management tools such as Jira
- Experience with formal engineering change management processes
- Master of Science or Business Administration is desirable
