The Opportunity

Solarcore is looking for an experienced Product Line Manager: Government (PLM) to help with our expansion into United States Government business, including Department of Defense contracts and federal procurement. This person must be well versed in navigating the complex world of government contracting, compliance, and logistics.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of government sales, defense procurement cycles and must have a proven track record of securing and supporting government contracts and working within the DoD Procurement Processes.
As our PLM, you will need to be passionate about creating new to-the-world solutions across a wide variety of applications, ensuring that our products align with federal procurement standards, and developing and managing the stage gate process to smoothly move products from the ideation to the final commercialization phase.
This position will report to the Director of Product Managment and will be the main point of contact for the entire Solarcore executive team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and continuously improve the internal stage gate process
Work with Sales, Marketing, and Product Development teams to ensure product specs meet government needs (e.g., military apparel, extreme weather gear, protective equipment).
Ensure our products are built to the compliance standards set by FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations), DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement), ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), and Department of State export licensing.
Maintain Berry Amendment & Buy American Act (BAA) compliance for DoD sales.
Manage product responses to RFPs, RFQs, and government solicitations, ensuring competitive, compliant proposals.
Assist in developing pricing strategies for firm-fixed-price (FFP), cost-plus, and IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity) contracts.
Work with Operations & Manufacturing to ensure Mil-Standards and compliance when fulfilling government contracts, including proper shipping, invoicing, and reporting.
Assist in preparing for government audits and performance reviews.
Experience and Requirements
5+ years of experience in government sales, contracting, or compliance, ideally in DoD, defense, or advanced materials.
3+ years of project management in government sales, contracting, or compliance, ideally in DoD, defense, or advanced materials.
5+ Experience working with military or defense agencies & prime contractors.
Active security clearance or ability to obtain one is required.
Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams (Sales, R&D, Operations, Legal, and Finance) to ensure compliance and execution.
Strong understanding of defense apparel, military cold-weather gear, or industrial insulation applications is a plus.
Passion for building things from the ground up and continued improvement of both products and processes.
