The Opportunity
The Product Licensing Coordinator is responsible for effectively supporting the product life cycle through all stages of development for our external licensee partners. Reporting to the Product Licensing Manager for domestic business, you will support and manage key aspects of the product approval process from concept to final production for both product and packaging submissions, ensuring all licensed products align with our brand standards and creative guidelines. This role requires close collaboration with both internal and external teams to support the development of new product concepts, ensure product assortments are viable, and facilitate timely and successful product launches.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review a heavy volume of domestic consumer product submissions in the online Mediabox system for accuracy and completeness.
Filter incoming submissions to prioritize licensees, projects, or deadlines when necessary.
Ensure all licensed products reflect the brand by adhering to standards and guidelines, including reviewing products for quality, construction, color, material, branding, and image.
Communicate feedback to licensees regarding required changes and/or approval within the required time frame, providing supplemental examples, context, or images as needed.
Assist in the onboarding of new licensees and their ongoing education to ensure all partners integrate into the DSE ecosystem of product development, including aiding in
interpreting brand standards and guidelines and providing direction in using creative style guides and assets.
Master the Mediabox product approval system, including troubleshooting issues, managing user accounts, and supporting licensees on how to use the system.
Organize, track, and archive product samples, including unboxing and shipping samples, and follow up with licensees to request product samples or photos.
Help showcase DSE's licensed product scope by collecting product images, creating catalogs/presentations, and collecting samples for trade shows, events, and PR initiatives.
Collaborate with other internal departments to gather collective feedback on product design and development.
Assist the global product team with the development of seasonal market and industry trend reports
Manage incoming samples, including onsite and offsite organization.
Other projects as required across the global team.
Experience, Skills and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe programs including Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
1-2 years of experience in product development, licensing, or a related field within the consumer products or entertainment industry.
General knowledge of the licensing business from both licensor and licensee perspectives.
Impeccable attention to detail and a strong aptitude for organizing and archiving.
The ability to help yourself and foresight to provide solutions to problems.
The ability to navigate situational subtleties and nuances while still maintaining discipline to consistently adhere to overall brand standards.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe programs, including Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Ability to drive innovation and identify new licensing opportunities that align with company initiatives.
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with licensees, prospects, and retail partners.

Location: San Diego Hybrid; in office Monday to Thursday.
