Job Title: Product Development Engineer Location: Elkhart, IN (Onsite) Employment Type: Full-Time Direct Hire Experience Level: All Levels Considered (Minimum 3 Years Required) Education: All Levels Considered (Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Preferred) Visa Sponsorship: Not Available Relocation Assistance: Not Provided Total Positions: 1 Position Summary: A manufacturing company specializing in CNC machining, fabrication, thermoforming, and complex assemblies is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join its growing team in Elkhart, Indiana. The ideal candidate will bring strong SolidWorks skills, a creative mindset, and a practical understanding of design for manufacturability. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on product development and collaboration across departments. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate on new product development from concept through production. Translate customer or sales concepts into manufacturable designs aligned with internal capabilities. Use SolidWorks daily to create and modify designs. Design with cost-efficiency and manufacturing processes in mind. Work within a Product Data Management (PDM) system for file organization and documentation. Apply mechanical knowledge to optimize product assembly and design functionality. Communicate regularly with Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality teams. Demonstrate familiarity with plastic materials and related manufacturing methods. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience in product design or development. Proficient in SolidWorks. Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to standard operating procedures. Mechanical aptitude and a good sense of design practicality. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. Experience in the marine industry. Familiarity with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining and vacuum forming processes. Understanding of manufacturing costs and efficiency-driven design principles.
