This position is part of the Design Engineering Department located in Coralville, IA and will be on-site. At IDT, we are one global team. We celebrate our differences, engage in healthy debate, and are inclusive. Together, we accomplish great things


In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in project teams to develop and implement IDT manufacturing systems and equipment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met, execute project planning to ensure timely completion of milestones, and present project progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Produce engineering designs and manage complex assemblies in CAD software while optimizing designs for manufacturability, cost, effectiveness, and quality. You will conduct system testing and troubleshooting to ensure functionality and performance. You will also prepare and maintain documentation, including design specifications and technical reports.
  • Conduct the assembly of mechanical systems, ensuring all components are correctly integrated while performing advanced troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve technical issues. You will manage the installation process at customer sites, coordinating with other teams to ensure seamless setup while developing detailed validation protocols to ensure system performance.


The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, (or a related field)
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software such as Solid Edge, Solid Works, PTC Creo, Etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards (GD&T)
  • Experience with Analysis of simulation tools. CFD, FEA, etc.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Relevant industry standards. UL, OSHA, NFPA, etc.
  • Statistical analysis and data analysis tools.
  • Product Lifecycle Management software (PLM system) such as Teamcenter or Winchill.
