SCOPE

The Product Development Analyst gathers product and business requirements and documents them in the form of requirements and user stories that form the basis for execution by product development. The analyst works closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure requirements meet business needs and technical constraints. Functional business input sources can include product management, new business initiatives, sales, operations, technical support, finance, IT and/or engineering. The analyst is a critical thinker and exceptional verbal and written communicator who can distill abstract ideas as well as detailed user flows into easily understood requirements documentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized and can also serve to manage select projects through development depending on project scope.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements Gathering - Work with business stakeholders to understand needs and objectives of new products or features. Gathers, defines, and documents business requirements, process flows, and system specifications.

Documentation - Creates detailed documentation including business requirement documents, functional requirement documents, user stories, and use cases that are used by project managers and developers to bring ideas to life in the form of saleable products.

Project Management - Support (or lead as assigned) project management efforts by monitoring project progress, identifying gaps between Marketing/Business requirements and Product requirements as authored by Development teams. Identifies risks to scope, schedule or budget.

Analysis & Reporting - Creates and distributes summary reports on a regular cadence. Analyzes data and information and presents findings and recommendations to stakeholders, management and project managers. Is the department's steward of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Process & Tools - Works within the company's tool sets (Asana and Jira project management tools among others) to ensure requirements, documents and user stories are maintained and shared in highly organized and accessible formats.

Testing - Supports the testing of new solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and user expectations. Participates in user acceptance testing (UAT) and gathers feedback from key stakeholders to ensure functional specifications are met.

Vendor Management - Works directly with vendors and contracted software developer organizations. Serves as the voice of the company, establishing strong relationships and partnerships while aggressively managing budget and the interests of the company.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field
  • 2 years of experience as a business analyst; highly qualified recent graduates should also apply
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Logical, structured and organized in thought process and work product
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
  • Adept at mastering digital tools; experience and proficiency with Asana and Jira a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Exceptional communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
