Procurement Specialist - Exciting Relocation Opportunity.
A leading, Midwest-proud manufacturing company with global reach is seeking a talented Procurement Specialist to oversee material requirements and procurement with referenced production schedule using Oracle to drive accurate and timely material flow and meet delivery requirements. The Procurement Specialist oversees all activities of Purchasing and is considered a primary contact for supplier interface within the materials function.
Note: This role requires relocation to rural South Dakota (Northeast area). This region offers excellent hunting and fishing, affordable housing, and a relaxed Midwestern small-town lifestyle.
Procurement Specialist Responsibilities
The Procurement Specialist will play a critical role in production planning support and inventory control, with key responsibilities including:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to verify schedules, set order release dates, and allocate resources efficiently.
- Coordinates material planning and inventory levels to align supply with forecasted and actual production demand.
- Ensures timely procurement and delivery of goods and services to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Communicates requirements and expectations to suppliers, including vendor selection, site visits, and performance feedback.
- Manages procurement strategies for both production and indirect materials, including cost analysis and contract support.
- Responds to schedule changes by adjusting material flow and sourcing alternatives to address delays or shortages.
- Supports supplier development initiatives such as Kanban and consignment inventory programs.
- Tracks material deliveries from order to inspection and expedites when necessary to meet production timelines.
- Participates in process improvements and policy updates related to purchasing workflows and supplier interactions.
- Handles logistics coordination for standard and expedited shipments as needed.
- Performs other duties in support of broader organizational goals.
Procurement Specialist Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related business field plus 2 years of Purchasing related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Consideration of Associate/Technical dgrees plus additional procurement related work experience in a manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required.
- Experience in Oracle a plus.
- Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of business operations and supply chain processes.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High proficiency in production planning systems, Previous Oracle experience is preferred.
