Position Summary

The Direct Procurement Specialist position is a critical role in support of Chemico's chemical management program in Georgetown, KY. This position reports directly to the customer champion at the site in the Production Control Department, and will work with our current on-site team operating the Indirect Materials/Oil Stores facility. The Direct Procurement Specialist will be responsible for ordering and receiving Toyota direct material via the Toyota Ariba system. These materials are critical to the customers' production operations as the production line relies on a number of the materials this position is responsible for. There will be standard weekly overtime and weekend work.

Responsibilities/Duties:
    • Process material receipts and selling chemical materials in Ariba.
    • Assist in completion of customer invoices.
    • Completes accounts payable, account reconciliation, and inventory reports.
    • Follow up with suppliers to confirm receipt of purchase order and assure required delivery dates can be met.
    • Monitor product lead times.
    • Tracks order progress to receipt of goods at customer location.
    • Interacts with customers and on-site personnel on delivery, quality or any other issues on purchase order.
    • Establishes and continually manages effective supplier relations.
    • Completes physical inventories (where applicable) and conducts material planning based on customer needs.
    • Work with suppliers / vendors to ensure empty containers are removed in a timely fashion.
    • Follow all customer safety guidelines.
    • Attend meetings as required by the customer.
    • Familiarity with customer software (Discovery, Ariba, etc.)
    • Performs other duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or related field of study is desired or a minimum of 4-5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of Education and Experience.
  • Experience in Chemical Industry and familiarity with Chemical Supply Chain.
  • Negotiation skills and experience working with large corporations.
  • Ability to work with both technical and administrative personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to adhere to and meet strict deadlines.

Work Environment:

Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role requires presence on the manufacturing floor and walking on concrete surfaces. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Ability to work in team fostered environment. Ability to work in multi-tasked environment. Strong personality and focus in fast-paced and demanding environments. Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
