Mission of the Role (What you will be doing)
The Procurement Manager - Commodities reports to the Vice President Supply Chain and plays an essential role in delivering on goals and metrics through effective supplier negotiations and by optimizing purchasing activities and processes to drive key sourcing metrics including productivity, working capital improvements, lead time, service level, and quality.
The Procurement Manager develops, communicates and ensures field alignment with purchasing strategies for packaging materials including corrugated, paperboard, polybags, stretch wraps, shrink films, foams, safety products, cleaning chemicals, transportation and other distribution related items. As a key contact for suppliers, the individual takes the lead in building positive, productive relationships with manufacturers and distributors, collaborates with internal teams regarding product needs and customer requirements, and provides high quality support and guidance to procurement teams and management throughout.
Key Duties & Accountabilities (Primary responsibilities & quantifiable measurements)
- Deliver 5-7% YOY productivity goals and achieve KPI targets for the assigned commodities
- Research, identify, and qualify best value sources of supply
- Ensure adherence to working capital objectives
- Create a collaborative environment for the selection of key vendors for your assigned categories
- Develop and manage the relationships with preferred suppliers and act as SME for assigned categories
- Coordinate with the supply chain leaders to ensure that suppliers adhere to the required delivery schedules. Take appropriate actions to maintain on-time deliveries of approved materials
- Contract life-cycle management with preferred vendors
- Support inventory reduction efforts on assigned categories
- Manage or Participate in the Inventory council to support initiatives on assigned categories

- Develop knowledge of new domestic and international markets to find new sources of supply
- Provide market analysis utilizing industry-relevant indices and publish to key members of the organization
- Reduce lead times in assigned commodities
- Develop productive collaborative relationships with the location procurement and management teams
- Develop, implement, and continuously optimize strategies for assigned commodities

Educational/Training Requirements/Experience (What your background should look like)
- Bachelor's Degree in business, packaging, procurement or comparable experience
- 3 to 5 years purchasing experience in packaging direct materials is preferred
- Intimate knowledge and experience with various packaging markets and suppliers
- Strong Project Management skills and experience
