General Purpose

The procurement contract manager is responsible for supplier development and all Strategic Repositioning Center of Excellence contracting needs. This includes analysis of current contract terms conditions, supplier contract performance, contract negotiations and timely contract completion of contracting process and cycle.

This position will ensure value is being obtained from e-auction and aggregation vendor contracts and that the completed contracts are negotiated to the fullest advantage given the company's size and bargaining position are used. This position will also ensure that risk exposure is minimized throughout the contract period. Additional responsibilities include developing contract strategies, negotiating complex commodities and services contracts, assisting with request for proposals, ensuring contracts are fully executed in a timely manner and maintenance of contract records. Para legal experience or Juris Doctorate degree is acceptable.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage the work of the functional group. Lead projects and initiatives.
  • Lead the functional team; direct day-to-day activities and provide guidance and recommendations.
  • Manage the contract process for the acquisition of commodities and services with internal technical, legal and procurement staff. Negotiate and develop complex commodity and service contracts with vendors for the Strategic Repositioning Center of Excellence. Track usage, value and effectiveness of all completed contracts across the organization.
  • Manage the contract process for cross company aggregation projects and e-auction events within Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company that will deliver benefit in terms of service level and safety as well as financial benefit. Maintain and improve business objectives, contract strategies and plans.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of strategies and programs that support supplier performance improvements, which includes quality, delivery, service, product standardization, and customer support.
  • Provide all contract review and advice to the business units for their contract needs
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with vendors to ensure that the company's contracts are adequately supported.
  • Communicate with senior management and business units to assure that commodity and service contracts are updated, improved and replaced as required.
  • Provide contract terms input to assist in development of contracts, e-auctions and aggregation event planning.
  • Provide input into team employee performance reviews. Flag performance and personnel issues for people manager resolution.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science or related field or equivalent experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
  • Six years of related experience in procurement, including two years in a contract manager/leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of contracting methodologies, utility company assets, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Software skills to create electronic spreadsheets, documents and databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
