Processing Manager
Job Purpose
Department: Thrift Processing
Oversee and manage the thrift store processing department, provide coaching and training to the processing team. Oversee accurate receiving, sorting and pricing of merchandise. Hire and equip staff to maintain a fully functioning processing department.

Duties and Responsibilities
Culture Work
- Establish professional, caring, strengths-based relationships built on truth, respect, encouragement, and trust.

Direct Work
- Lead the Processing department in the building of the team, by being an example of "revealing Christ" to all staff, donors, and customers.
- Perform any required job duties within the processing team. This includes, but is not limited to, duties related to accepting donations, sorting, and pricing merchandise.
- Adhere to and implement on a continual basis all donor service standards, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for hiring and termination of processing staff.
- Collaborate with thrift leaders to place the right people in the right places on the team.
- Properly coach, mentor, train, develop and manage employees to accomplish goals, while maintaining our core values.
- Properly execute necessary paperwork.
- Ensure that daily metrics are properly tracked and recorded.
- Set daily goals and strategically plan according to projections and targets.
- Review Cyfe/ThriftTrac Dashboards daily to understand and communicate targets to team.
- Schedule staff appropriately to ensure the team is well equipped to accomplish processing goals.
- Maintain the physical appearance of the processing department, ensuring clean and well-organized processing areas and personal workstations while enforcing company safety standards.
- Provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere for processing staff to promote further professional development and growth within the Yakima Union Gospel Mission.
- Facilitate and promote an encouraging, positive, and unified relationship between Processing and Retail Departments.
- Work with, and effectively communicate with, the Retail Manager daily to ensure all the operational needs of the store are being met.
- Effectively communicate with warehouse staff/driver pertaining to daily servicing, storage, recycling, and product processes, procedures, and store needs.
- Communicate efficiently and clearly with the Director on daily needs and progress of the Processing team.
- Direct or delegate direction of Community Jobs workers and volunteers on processing floor.
- Recognize the value and appropriate pricing of items and train and hold staff accountable for "Pricing to Value", prior to items reaching the sales floor.
- Provide biblical hospitality to donors, staff, volunteers, and customers.
- Be able to tell the Yakima Union Gospel Mission story and incorporate how our thrift stores support the work of The Mission.
- If an Assistant Manager or Supervisor is on the team, the Processing Manager is responsible for developing them into a viable Processing Manager candidate.
- Partner with other Processing Managers to ensure consistency across all YUGM stores.
- Effectively use the donation receiving script to communicate appreciation, the Yakima Union Gospel Mission Story, and the Gift Card Program to donors.
- Attend, as requested or required, all YUGM trainings and store meetings as scheduled by the management team to keep current on any policy changes, new procedures, and other information essential to performing the job.
- Other duties as assigned in support of YUGM's mission and values.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have a commitment to the mission of the Yakima Union Gospel Mission.
- Must be a people person with a pleasant and willing attitude and have a servant's heart.
- Experience in retail/processing operations preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with an excellent command of the English language.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to operate general office equipment, such as computers, laminators, printers.
- Proficiency using MS Office products such as Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Strong ability to delegate tasks.
- Ability to read and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Planning and Organizing
- Must be detail-oriented and have solid organizational skills.
- Must be a problem solver and be able to work with minimum supervision and take initiative.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Must possess skill and proficiency in planning to meet established goals.
Working Conditions
- Full time: 35-40 hours a week / Part-time: up to 29.5 hours a week.
- Hourly wage subject to position.
- Schedule will be made in collaboration with the director, director has final say in all scheduling requests/accommodations.
- Access to restrooms and water is available at any time during your shift.
- The primary duties of this position are performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled environment.
- The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
- Some travel between Mission sites and locations in the community is required.
- May also be required to be outdoors in inclement weather and work irregular hours.
Physical Requirements
- Sit and review information on a computer screen or on paper for extended periods of time.
- Stand, walk, and use hands up to 100% of the time.
- See and hear.
- Speak English clearly and fluently.
- Travel from one location to another.
- Walk, climb, balance, and stoop, reach with hands and arms, use hands to handle, or feel.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. with ability to lift heavier items with assistance.
