A quick look at the role.
The Process Supervisor will efficiently organise and supervise the operation of an anaerobic digestion plant, which operates 24/7 (4 days on/off, alternating 12-hour day and night shifts from 7:00 to 7:00). The role involves ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance, whilst demonstrating continuous improvement in productivity, plant availability, and the management of sub-products in accordance with site licences.
Your core responsibilities:
- Monitoring and controlling all resources within the AD plant, including personnel and equipment, stock control, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping to maximise operational productivity, plant availability, and performance.
- Ensuring productivity and availability meet or exceed defined standards for biogas/electricity production and the quality of by-products such as inerts, digestate, and effluents, while driving best practices and continuous improvement in cost control and operations.
- Managing material flows into and out of the process to minimise downtime.
- Maintaining accurate records of plant operations, settings, stoppages, and causes of unplanned downtime.
- Supporting engineering in developing a preventative maintenance, inspection, and cleaning programme to reduce downtime and record recurrent faults.
- Reviewing maintenance activities, controlling costs, and monitoring health & safety and KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Demonstrating strong man-management skills and maintaining focus in a demanding environment.
Our essential requirements:
- Experience as a Process Supervisor or similar role, preferably in green waste, water treatment, or related plants.
- Experience in people management and health & safety within a unionised, multi-shift environment.
- Understanding of the waste industry and relevant legislation.
- A proven track record of meeting service delivery KPIs.
- Excellent communication, planning, and teamwork skills.
