Overview:
A Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality solar module production. This role involves improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing product reliability while ensuring compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design & Optimization:
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for solar module production.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve efficiency, yield, and throughput.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and automation technologies to enhance production.
- Production Support & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor production lines and provide real-time troubleshooting support.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Train operators and technicians on best practices and process improvements.
- Quality Control & Assurance:
- Ensure production processes meet industry standards and company quality requirements.
- Analyze defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Work with quality teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement process control measures.
- Equipment & Technology Management:
- Assist in the selection, installation, and validation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Optimize machine parameters for enhanced efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors to ensure peak performance and minimal downtime.
- Material & Supply Chain Coordination:
- Work with procurement teams to evaluate and qualify raw materials such as solar cells, glass, encapsulants, and back sheets.
- Ensure material compatibility with existing processes and optimize material usage.
- Reduce material waste and improve overall cost-effectiveness.
- Data Analysis & Process Control:
- Use statistical process control (SPC) and data analytics tools to monitor process trends.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) like yield, efficiency, and cycle time.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all processes comply with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement hazard control measures.
- Promote a culture of safety and sustainability within the plant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, or materials engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably in solar module manufacturing or a similar industry.
- Knowledge of PV module production steps (cell interconnection, lamination, testing, etc.).
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in process simulation, or manufacturing software
Preferred Certifications & Skills:
- Experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Familiarity with PV module reliability testing (EL, IV curve, climate chamber testing).
