Prior Authorization Coordinator - Qualifications:
Current WI LPN license or graduate of an accredited medical assisting program
Two years' experience working with health insurance companies regarding benefits and coverage, prior authorizations, and/or medical coding
Ability to interpret payer policies and guidelines
Intermediate knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and medical terminology
PC/typing and telephone experience
Excellent customer relations, organization, planning and prioritization skills
Experience with national payers, DME, and Medicare Part B coverage; prior Epic experience; and previous experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Prior Authorization Coordinator - Responsibilities:
Investigates and maintains knowledge of payer pre-certification/authorization, and referral requirements
Verifies patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage,
Supplies information to payers including medical information and/or a letter of medical necessity for determination of benefits
Ensures prior certification, authorization, and referral requirements are met prior to delivery of services
Communicates with payers, physicians, and patients regarding PA status
Ensures compliance with payer contracts
Documents necessary information in patient's medical record
