Provide technical leadership to support development for the COAST Program System Integration & Test team. The responsibilities includes both individual-contributor and leadership roles, within a multi-disciplined engineering team. Successful candidate will also be called upon to support other activities, including trade studies, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions. In this role, the Systems Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to design, analysis, and execution efforts. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule. In addition, the candidate must have experience processing and updating Mathematical Algorithm Reports (MARs). They also require good interpersonal skills to enable collaboration with the different IPTs.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex problems that the program may encounter.
  • Develop, author and/or provide input to major program data products and other deliverables, including MARs
  • Technical management of program elements
  • Plan and conduct technical reviews and technical baseline
  • Mentor, coach, train, guide, direct, and advise junior staff
  • Able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.
  • The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience
Active SCI access and/or DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI access or active SCI access
  • Experience in test procedure development, test planning, and/or integration and test
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Experience in troubleshooting of complex systems
  • Experience working with Software teams
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, often for extended periods (up to three months' duration)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or other STEM-related field
  • Experience with Ground and Space systems and/or Command and Control systems
  • Experience processing and updating Mathematical Algorithm Reports (MARs)
  • Experience in working as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
