The Secure Processing and Networks (SPAN) Business Unit is seeking a Mission Assurance Engineer that is a self-starter who can manage complex tasks independently with little to no guidance and have a clear understanding of what needs to be accomplished on a daily basis. All tasks are handled with strong business acumen and the ability to clearly and confidently communicate complex concepts to cross functional teams and senior leadership. The ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders, critical deadlines and ensure timely deliverables is paramount to the success of the role. This position is required to be on-site during at a minimum during core working hours at our Kearny Mesa location in San Diego, Tuesday - Thursday. What You'll Get To Do: Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements.
Defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes by ensuring contractual requirements are flowed down internally and to suppliers, and integrated into programs plans.
Drive culture change toward more proactive risk mitigation, data driven decision making, and continuous improvement mindset.
Assists in the definition, planning, organizing, directing and controlling of risk and opportunity management efforts.
Evaluates risk and opportunity handling approaches and mitigation plans.
Informs and advises higher level management on critical project risks and mitigations.
Represent Mission Assurance at various program reviews and review boards including but not limited to Risk and Opportunity Review Board (RORB), Configuration Control Board (CCB), Program Management Reviews (PMR), Design/Peer Reviews.
Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
Responsible for reviewing RFPs and developing Basis of Estimates to ensure sufficient Quality oversight on captures and programs, mission assurance and program excellence.
Support Return to Green and Corrective Action activities as independent resource with focus on full resolution and future risk mitigation.
Work cross functionally to identify and prioritize problems, create initiatives for business, operational, technical, and administrative process improvements to reduce waste and quantifiably improve process efficiency and effectiveness. Basic Qualifications: Qualifications for Principal Engineer Mission Assurance Bachelor's degree in STEM or Project Management plus 5 years of experience; or master's degree plus 3 years of experience; or PhD plus 1 year of experience
Qualifications for Sr. Principal Engineer Mission Assurance Bachelor's degree in STEM or Project Management discipline plus 8 years of experience; or master's degree plus 6 years of experience; or PhD plus 4 years of experience
Demonstrated experience in Quality
Demonstrated experience collaborating cross functionally to drive process improvement
Experience conducting RCCA investigations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Experience presenting to upper-level management. Preferred Qualifications: ( not required but will be taken into strong consideration) Mission Assurance Experience and Quality leadership
Familiarity with NGPro, PEF, T3G, NG PrOP
Experienced in Risk Management processes and toolsets.
Experience in Business Management or Program Management.
Experience with audits and compliance.
Background in leading teams.
Certified in Lean Agile and/or Six Sigma Competencies for Success: Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with ability to interface at all levels of the organization.
Excellent problem solving skills
Able to deal effectively in a dynamic environment by multitasking and prioritizing competing priorities

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
