Microelectronics Northrop Grumman The Microelectronics, Design, and Applications (MDA) organization is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Factory Automation Engineer to join our team and pioneer new approaches, design and implement technologies for a computer integrated manufacturing system. You'll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality. Roles and Responsibilities: Architect custom solutions to bridge the gap between COTS software packages and internal applications
Collaborate with COTS vendor to optimize and make key decisions regarding Equipment Automation deployment and configuration
Define requirements, author code, test and deploy custom solutions to factory automation systems
Characterize semiconductor equipment automation to meet CIM Automation Mode requirements
Set communication protocols and network configurations on network devices (Modbus/TCP, AMQP, MQTT, etc.)
Author technical documentation that outlines equipment integration and factory automation to technical and non-technical individuals
Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications
Perform root cause analysis for application failures and implement solutions This position will serve on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a dual level requisition and can be filled as a Principal Engineer or Sr Principal Engineer. Basic Qualifications for Principal Factory Automation Engineer: Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Able to support execution of Statement of Work (SOW) components with vendors and work cross team
Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs
Experience working with SECS/GEM protocol (SECS-I & SECS-II messaging)
Understanding of software programming, concepts of Software Engineering or Systems Engineering specifically software integration
Experience with supplier engagement and facilitation of supplier. development and risk reduction activities
Must be willing to work on site 100% of time
Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required

Experience with multi-threading and socket programming.
Familiarity with factory automation modes, i.e. 'Manual', 'Semi-Auto', 'Full-Auto'.
Skilled in modern programing languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.)
Has worked with Applied Materials SmartFactory Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) solution.
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and software tools, i.e. Atlassian tools stack - Jira, Confluence.
Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs, including experience with semiconductor CIM components (MES, Equipment Automation, SPC, Fault Decision, R2R Control, etc.)
Very Strong familiarity with SEMI Standards, particularly standards related to factory automation (E4, E5, E30, E37, etc.)
Experience working with SECS/GEM protocol (SECS-I & SECS-II messaging, communication over RS-232 and TCP/IP)
Strong understanding of software programming, concepts of Software Engineering or Systems Engineering specifically software integration

Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00Salary Range 2: $131,100.00 - $206,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
