Caribou Thunder is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) to support the advanced development of missile defense, OPIR, and next-generation combat systems. This engineer will utilize Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM Rhapsody, and SysML/UML to develop architecture models, simulation frameworks, and extendable algorithms that enhance missile tracking, prediction, and discrimination capabilities against emerging global threats. This position supports the BOA/ESL Algorithms team, using OPIR data and advanced software development techniques to improve tracking algorithms and operational decision-making. REQUIREMENTS
Model-Based Systems Engineering:
Develop, integrate, and manage complex system models using Cameo Systems Modeler and Rhapsody based on SysML/UML standards. Algorithm & Simulation Development:
Design and implement advanced algorithms for real-time missile tracking, predictive analytics, and threat discrimination using Modern C and Python. Software Engineering:
Develop prototype tools and extendable software frameworks in a Linux environment to enhance sensor and system performance. Performance Analysis:
Conduct analysis of algorithms, observation models, propagation models, and filtering/smoothing techniques for state estimation. AI Integration:
Incorporate Machine Learning (ML) and AI techniques into system models to improve sensor fusion, anomaly detection, and decision-making capabilities. Technical Documentation:
Prepare detailed technical documentation including requirements specifications, model descriptions, interface control documents, and verification plans. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration:
Partner with software engineers, algorithm developers, data analysts, and system architects to support integrated system solutions. Support for DoD and SMDC Missions:
Directly support Department of Defense programs and contribute to safeguarding U.S. national security assets. Apply advanced mathematics for data analysis and algorithm development. Develop and test tracking, prediction, and sensor fusion algorithms. Debug and resolve algorithm defects; manage defect tracking systems. Bridge theoretical modeling with practical system integration. Conduct population statistics and trend identification for data analysis. Support tool development for automated model verification and validation. Travel up to 10% to support business and operational needs. QUALIFICATIONS Principal Model-Based Systems Engineer (Level 3)
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 5 years of related experience, OR Master's degree and 3 years of experience, OR PhD and 1 year of experience. Proficiency in Rhapsody, Cameo MBSE, SysML, and UML. Experience in C and Python software development (minimum 4 years). Linux experience with utilities (GREP, AWK, cat, head). Background in algorithm design, state estimation, and statistical analysis. Strong understanding of numerical computing and optimization techniques. Ability to translate operational needs into executable models and simulations. Senior Principal Model-Based Systems Engineer (Level 4)
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 8 years of related experience, OR Master's degree and 6 years of experience, OR PhD and 4 years of experience. Senior-level expertise in MBSE methodologies and tools (Rhapsody, Cameo). Advanced experience in missile defense tracking algorithms and AI integration. Leadership in developing and maintaining complex model architectures. Significant contributions to defense, aerospace, or intelligence projects. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (For All Levels)
Experience supporting Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs. Familiarity with OPIR sensor data and space-based tracking systems. Knowledge of Kalman Filters, Bayesian inference, and probabilistic tracking models. Exposure to high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud-based processing environments.
