Principal Site Reliability Engineer

Responsible for the availability, stability, reliability, performance, and security of the Dental Software Cloud applications. Responsible for continuous improvement of availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring/alerting, emergency response, and capacity planning. Drives continuous improvement in delivery of resilient, scalable, performant, secure, and high-quality cloud-native services. Plan, design, deploy, and operate Site Reliability Engineering capabilities for cloud products & services. Recognize and address sub-standard performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs). Continuously build, automate, and improve upon capabilities that are secure, scalable, performant, and resilient. Work closely with Infrastructure, Network, Security, Architecture, and Development teams to build highly performing, scalable, and secure Azure environments. Define needs by documenting processes; includes research, planning and writing supporting documentation. Collaborates with development teams and Site Reliability Engineers to identify cross-team issues which create risk for operations across the organization. Works to resolve issues with a mixture of engineering, troubleshooting expertise, and general operational guidance. Proactively drives improvement of enterprise cloud capabilities while creating best practices and tools to empower developers to create, deploy, and operationally support services. Responsible for the leading, coaching, and mentoring of team members in DevOps culture, highly scalable architectures, and lean development utilizing agile practices. Interacts with vendors and service providers to resolve complex system related problems. Up to 5% domestic travel for vendor conferences.

This position may be performed from any home office in Illinois or Minnesota. The position reports to Headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.
5 years of experience as a DevOps engineer or any occupation in which the experience was gained. Demonstrated experience in: Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS); Built and maintained an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) framework using Terraform; Defined and implemented an incident management process using PagerDuty; Azure Cloud; Azure DevOps; MS Build; CI/CD pipelines; Packer; Powershell and C ; Windows or Linux OS; DevOps or Site Reliability; Docker & Containers; Cloud Automation; and APM tools (Dynatrace & DataDog).
Bachelors degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a closely related field.
