About The Role

The Principal Infrastructure Engineer serves as the go-to technical resource/coordinator for the Systems Engineers, Systems Administrators, and Network Engineers. This position will help guide and align the team in project execution through Agile methodologies, provide coordination across various areas of expertise, and sponsor initiatives to mature operations in alignment with the goals of Columbia Credit Union. The Principal Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with team members to provide assistance in technical decision-making, coordinate project activities, and facilitate communication with management. The individual uses their broad technical experience to lead technical discussions, project prioritization, and cross-functional efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate with the engineering team, product owners, and leadership on project work, technical decision-making, and day-to-day operations through Agile methodologies.
  • Serve as the technical team and leadership liaison, providing updates on progress, challenges, and resource needs.
  • Assist with the design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, and maintenance of on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance in managing enterprise applications and systems, such as VMware, Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and others.
  • Help the team to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and administration.
  • Work with Systems Engineers, Administrators, and Network Engineers to ensure all infrastructure meets security and credit union standards.
  • Coordinate activities for disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing, ensuring documentation and processes are up to date.
  • Facilitate collaboration within the team and with other cross-functional teams for efficient project delivery.
  • Act as a technical resource to assist team members in troubleshooting complex technical issues, providing escalation support as needed.
  • Provide coordination for infrastructure monitoring, backup, and replication tools.
  • Maintain and facilitate the development of runbooks, documentation, and procedures for system operations.
  • Be available for support through the on-call rotation.
  • Assist with the training and development of team members.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 8+ years of experience in IT with a focus on infrastructure solutions, systems engineering, and operations.
  • Experience in networking technologies (TCP/IP, Ethernet, remote connectivity).
  • Experience in leading cross-functional projects and facilitating team discussions to drive decisions.
  • Knowledge and experience with server infrastructure, cloud technologies, and enterprise systems, including:
    • Cloud Platforms such as Azure or AWS
    • VMware
    • Windows Server, SQL Server, and Active Directory/Entra ID
    • Storage solutions such as Pure, SAN, etc.
    • Backup and DR solutions, including SRM, Zerto, and Cohesity
    • Configuration and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate team activities, ensuring alignment with business needs and technical best practices.
  • Ability to build relationships across teams and departments, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
COMPENSATION
  • $135,00.00-$157,000.00/ year
  • Back Office Incentive potential
