The Principal Infrastructure Engineer is primarily responsible for delivering and managing scalable IT infrastructure services. The Engineer will focus on the development of infrastructure technology best practices and standards that can be leveraged across the Infrastructure organization. A primary focus for the future will be the transition to the cloud. This position will be critical in setting the strategy and laying the groundwork to move the firm forward with a focus on buying cycles and services, not hardware and software. The position will act as a technical overlay for the infrastructure group and will help provide technical and strategic direction to help the teams meet the firm's goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the principles that guide technology decisions for the firm; work to help define cloud strategy
  • Contributes to the implementation of an infrastructure architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies
  • Rectifies gaps and pain points within the current state of Infrastructure
  • Analyzes the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Approves and modifies current designs by reviewing end-user topology, security, performance, and interoperability requirements
  • Consults on infrastructure projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture and the needs of the end user community
Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Engineering or related field preferred; at least 7 years of prior experience, financial services exposure is a plus
  • Project experience moving workloads to the cloud, AWS, Azure, or related
  • Familiarity with scripting languages including but not limited to Python and PowerShell
  • Demonstrated expertise with Windows, Linux, and Networking
  • Experience with project management life cycle and application architecture
  • Ability to work with vendors, management, and staff at all levels within the organization while managing a workload with multiple shifting priorities
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required including the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed, on-call rotation required
