Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced Principal Infrastructure Architect to join our team. The Principal Infrastructure Architect serves as the organization's foremost technical authority on infrastructure design and strategy. This senior-level position is responsible for establishing the architectural vision for all infrastructure systems, including data centers, networks, compute resources, storage, and cloud environments. The architect will develop comprehensive reference architectures and technical standards that guide the organization's infrastructure investments and implementations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
As a strategic leader, the Principal Infrastructure Architect will drive infrastructure modernization efforts, lead technology roadmap development, and architect complex solutions for critical business initiatives. You will provide technical leadership in resolving challenging infrastructure problems, represent the infrastructure architecture practice in cross-functional forums, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues. The role encompasses establishing governance frameworks, performance standards, and security controls that protect enterprise assets while enabling business agility. Additionally, the architect will manage relationships with technology vendors, evaluate infrastructure solutions, and ensure all procured technologies meet architectural requirements. Through continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, infrastructure as code, and DevOps/SRE practices, the Principal Infrastructure Architect will transform traditional infrastructure operations into modern, resilient, and efficient service delivery models. You will:
- Design and develop target state architectures for networks and data centers, particularly those brought on through M&A activities
- Create detailed technical roadmaps for infrastructure modernization and consolidation
- Lead architecture reviews and provide technical governance across infrastructure domains
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions
- Develop infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to other infrastructure engineers
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Drive infrastructure architecture vision and strategy
- Lead infrastructure architecture governance
- Collaborate with ITLT executives on infrastructure initiatives
- Represent infrastructure architecture in enterprise architecture forums
Qualifications Desired Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture and engineering
- Deep expertise in routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory architecture and design
- Comprehensive understanding of data center architectures and technologies
- Proven experience creating target state architectures for M&A integration
- Expert knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and various authentication protocols
- Extensive experience with cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts for various audiences
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Healthcare industry security architecture experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco Certified CCIE in Routing & Switching or CCIE Data Center
- Experience with multi-cloud environments and hybrid infrastructure solutions
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code principles
- Experience with network security architecture and zero trust models
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
