QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Appropriate New Jersey Certification

2. At least 5 years of experience in K-12 education part of which must be in administration.

3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

POSITION GOAL: To provide effective leadership in developing a positive learning environment that fosters the educational potential and wellbeing of children, teachers and other members of the school community.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides a positive learning environment.
  • Articulates educational standards and outcomes to parents, teachers, and community members.
  • Supervises the school's educational program and implements the approved Board of Education curriculum.
  • Is responsible for the implementation and observance by school staff and students of all Board policies and administrative rules.
  • Participates in the development, revision and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Supervises and evaluates all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and nonprofessional personnel attached to the school.
  • Is responsible for recruiting and assigning of the school's professional and non-professional staff.
  • Is responsible for the safety, maintenance and administration of the school.
  • Oversees Guidance Services for children.
  • Keeps informed about the educational changes and developments for his/her professional growth.
  • Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal and vice principal(s).
  • Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.
  • Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to due process rights of students and Board policy.
  • Is responsible for student achievement and activities for the entire school and for designated grade level(s) where appropriate.
  • Is responsible for interpreting test data results and providing strategies for increased student achievement and for the improvement of school programs.
  • Works collaboratively with staff and administration to build effective School Based Planning Teams.
  • Performs all such duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
