About the Team

VIZIO's Technology - Software and Services team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Cloud Architect to join our growing team. This senior role requires a proven track record of architecting, designing, and delivering complex cloud-native solutions using AWS and/or Azure. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture, with deep expertise in building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems. As a Principal Architect, you will play a pivotal role in driving cloud adoption strategies, guiding technical teams, and collaborating with business leaders to deliver impactful solutions that meet our enterprise goals. The Solution Architect will report to our Director of Software Engineering and this position will not have direct reports. We pride ourselves on being a collaborative team here at Vizio and to accomplish this, we are in office 5 days a week in our Dallas, TX location.

What You Will Do

• Architect and Design Solutions: Lead the design and architecture of complex, scalable, and secure cloud-native solutions using AWS and/or Azure services.
• Cloud Strategy & Roadmap: Define the cloud strategy, roadmap, and best practices for the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology vision.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with senior management, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that cloud architectures meet technical, business, and security requirements.
• Technical Leadership: Provide thought leadership and mentoring to cross-functional teams, driving the adoption of cloud technologies and best practices.
• Cloud Migration & Transformation: Guide and oversee large-scale cloud migrations and cloud adoption initiatives, ensuring seamless transition and minimal business disruption.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure that cloud architectures adhere to security standards, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
• Optimization: Optimize system performance, cost, and scalability by leveraging cloud-native tools and services, implementing monitoring, and refining architecture as needed.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and trends, driving innovation within the cloud architecture space.
• Data Initiatives: Collaborate and contribute to create pipelines to move enterprise data from varied sources to destinations involving transformation and cleansing.

About You

• Experience: 8-10 years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture and solution delivery, with a strong focus on AWS and/or Azure.
• Cloud Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (Preferred), AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, or other relevant certifications are highly preferred.
• Cloud-Native Expertise: Deep knowledge of cloud-native application design patterns, microservices, serverless architectures, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Architecture Frameworks: Strong experience with designing multi-cloud, hybrid-cloud, and high-availability architectures.
• Container Orchestration: Expertise with Kubernetes, AKS or ECS and serverless computing and event-driven architecture using Lambda (AWS) or Azure Functions.
• Security & Governance: Expertise in implementing cloud security controls, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and data privacy standards.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitLab, etc.) for infrastructure as code (IaC), continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
• Agile Methodologies: Strong experience working in agile development environments and understanding of agile principles and practices.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and guide technical teams to success in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud migration.
• Experience with hybrid cloud solutions and managing multi-cloud environments.
• Familiarity with cloud cost optimization strategies and tools.
• Deep knowledge and experience working with databases and data pipelines
• Experience with cloud analytics, data lakes, and big data platforms (Redshift, Azure Synapse, etc.).
• Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and data processing a plus
