Our client is an award-winning environmental consultancy focused on developing climate resilience and supporting net-zero goals through innovative collaboration and specialist knowledge. As a Principal Ecology Consultant, you'll be at the forefront of these efforts, applying your ecological expertise to deliver projects that enhance biodiversity while providing high-quality service. Candidates based in Manchester, Sheffield, or Leeds are preferred, with offices in Manchester and Sheffield offering hybrid working options.

Responsibilities:

As the new Principal Ecological Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading a variety of ecology and biodiversity projects.
  2. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, including timelines and budgets.
  3. Conducting assessments such as PEAs, BNG, and BREEAM ecology reports.
  4. Producing EcIAs and HRAs, and leading on UKHabs and bat surveys in the field.
  5. Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
  6. Assisting with business development to secure new work and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements:

To be considered, you should ideally meet the following criteria:

  • Extensive experience with surveys, assessments, and report production.
  • Strong botany skills, preferably with a FISC level 4 certification.
  • Proficiency in PEAs, BNG assessments, BREEAM ecology reports, bat surveys, and QGIS.
  • Ability to independently carry out EcIAs and HRAs for complex projects.
  • Protected species licenses, especially a level 2 Bat license, are highly desirable.
  • Full CIEEM membership; chartered status is also highly desirable.
