The Team:
The Global Intelligence and Analytics (GIA) consulting team supports our customers with a horizonal view of the geographies, sectors, and operating environments that shape the world in which these organizations, their suppliers, and their customers operate. Our consultants design unique solutions using unparalleled data and analysis spanning: economics and industry, supply chain and logistics, geopolitics and risk. We leverage the domain expertise of these three practice areas to design custom models, scenarios, indices and analytical systems meant to inform critical decisions across a diverse range of customer workflows and industries.

Responsibilities and Impact:
This role presents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping our customers' strategies and planning. The successful candidate will lead client engagements, developing technical and strategic solutions together with fellow consultants, best-in-class researchers, subject matter experts, and data and analytics teams. The project work will focus on analyzing public finance issues - specifically:
  • state and local governments' tax revenue and expenditure modeling and forecasting;
  • municipal bond research including general obligation, as well as alcohol, tobacco, motor fuel, and other tax streams;
  • economic development initiatives; and
  • economic impact and scenario analysis of public and private sector investment.
Be an integral part of the development, management, and growth of the consulting team business, expanding our capability for public finance, economic development and planning, impact and scenario analysis, project delivery, and presentations for state and local government officials and financial institutions.
  • Engage with senior client leaders, from government policy makers and budget owners to financial executives, helping to share and guide policy making and senior level decision making.

  • You will be part of a team and environment that fosters creativity and innovation, encouraging you to bring new ideas and methodological approaches
  • Project management including an internal, and more importantly external, project leadership role.
  • Conceptualizing our technical approach and methods and communicating this in presentations, proposals and pitches to clients and prospective clients
  • Conducting in-depth economic analysis in the field of public finance including tax/revenue forecasting, the benefits and costs of municipal financing, socio-economic impact assessments, and macro/microeconomic scenario research for economic development initiatives.
  • Conducting and supporting econometric modeling and forecasting
  • Present the methodological process and project findings to clients, lead analysis and reporting of insights, and provide technical support tailored to client needs.
  • Provide support to our commercial team in building a pipeline of business in the Unites States focused on economic analysis including public finance, economic development, scenarios and impact analysis.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $69,661 to $,115,000 Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:
  • PhD or master's degree in economics, with up to 5 years of work experience, preferably with prior consultancy and/or public finance experience
  • Experience with tax/revenue forecasting, public finance, economic development planning, exposure to macroeconomic modeling and research, economic impact, and scenario (what-if) analysis.
  • Mathematical aptitude with a strong ability to work with scaled datasets and interpreting economic data.
  • Intellectually curious, collaborative, and positive can-do attitude; strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex economic concepts and models in a clear and concise manner to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build effective internal and external relationships across multiple stakeholders to effectively manage projects and win new business.
  • Proven project management skills
  • Travel requirement - travel throughout the United States region will be part of the role for both client contact, project management and supporting business development efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to use programming languages for data and economic modelling, ideally in Eviews software. Knowledge of programming languages such as R and Python is a plus.
