Our client is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to lead the strategy, design, and architecture of a multi-cloud environment. This role will drive technical implementation, shape long-term cloud strategy, and provide hands-on leadership within a global cloud platform team. The ideal candidate will have strong multi-cloud experience, deep technical expertise, and a strategic mindset to deliver scalable and secure cloud solutions.

Location: Greater Seattle Area - relocation assistance available for eligible new hires
Schedule: 100% on site 5 days/week - requires scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the team
Compensation: the estimated base salary for this role is $160,000 - $230,000, this role varies depending on the experience and skillset and is a combination between base salary plus RSU's and other forms of compensation.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy:
  • Set the strategic vision for a multi-cloud platform, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction for cloud initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their relevance to the organization.
  • Mentor and coach engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Drive strategy by conducting short-term Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to test new approaches.
  • Lead technical forums, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
Architecture & Design:
  • Partner with Enterprise, Solution, System, and Platform Architects to ensure secure cloud design.
  • Design and optimize complex, multi-cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability and high availability.
  • Drive architectural decisions through well-defined interfaces and code reviews.
  • Monitor performance of cloud platforms and automation tools, ensuring stability and scalability.
  • Establish data quality standards and best practices for validation and accuracy.
Engineering & Automation:
  • Develop "best-in-class" engineering for cloud services-secure, reliable, diagnosable, and reusable.
  • Optimize automation, monitoring, and reliability for cloud platforms.
  • Ensure testability, portability, and maintainability of cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with engineering and development teams to document cloud platforms and CI/CD processes.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including security, compliance, and platform engineering.
  • Ensure network security policies align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend infrastructure upgrades to support business growth and evolving technology needs.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security team to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
Qualifications
Required:
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in multi-cloud environments.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership or senior engineering role.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud and automation technologies (e.g., Azure, GCP, Git, Terraform).
  • 5+ years of experience developing solutions using modern programming languages (Java, C , Go).
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud security and compliance.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-volume, high-velocity data solutions.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Engineer).
  • Experience in retail, manufacturing, ecommerce, or supply chain industries.
