Principal Clinical Psychologist

We have an opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join us on a 12-month secondment, primarily within the Living Well with Pain Service.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a high quality, comprehensive, and effective clinical health psychology service to relevant physical health specialisms, mainly the Living Well with Pain service.
  • Ensure the systematic provision of a highly specialist clinical health psychology service to clients and healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise and support psychological assessment and therapy delivered by assistant and trainee clinical psychologists; contribute to supervision of clinical psychologists within the designated specialism.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines, overseeing the governance of clinical health psychology practice.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research.
  • Propose and implement policy changes within the team or service area.
  • Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership, fostering a culture of collective leadership within the trust.

Job responsibilities
  • Postgraduate Doctorate in clinical/counselling psychology, including models of psychopathology, psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan development psychology, accredited by the BPS.
  • Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist, with ongoing CPD compliance, and eligible for BPS chartered status.
  • Advanced knowledge through further training, including therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT), supervision, training, research, and management skills.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Postgraduate Doctorate in clinical/counselling psychology with relevant specialisms.
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for BPS chartered status.
  • Additional post-qualification training and experience relevant to the role.
